Hello, Linux newbie (mostly) running SuSE 7.3 (kernel 2.4.10) on an IBM Thinkpad T21 with the Ultracam USB camera. I found out the 2.4.10 kernel didn't include a module for the ultracam, but later versions do, so I've installed the 2.4.16 kernel from SuSE's ftp site, and so far that seems to be working.
Now, motv appears, but the picture is unusable - I see a rolling or flickering matrix of images, alternating black and white backgrounds like a checkerboard, with an apparent image of my head in each. I've made this change to my modules.conf file, and the drivers appear to be loading on startup: #alias char-major-81 bttv alias char-major-81 ultracam >From reading the v4l docs I do have, there appears to be some issue about parameters >to provide, but I don't know how to find out about them. I don't know how to proceed. If you can help, please ask questions and I'll get the information you request. I'd love to learn more, love to get this working so I can spend my time in Linux (I use Netmeeting video conferencing to keep in touch with my folks - I'm in New Zealand, they're all in the US, I've gotten a bttv camera working on my Dad's machine, but I need something on my end to make the switch too.). If you can help, I'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks in advance, Bret _______________________________________________ Video4linux-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/video4linux-list
