RedHat 7.1 (forgive me Alan) was broken in some regards... gcc, and
several others.  7.2 is considerably better.

Now that you've installed 7.1, have you gone to the updates site and
updated all the security fixes and errata?  If you've done that, then
you should have relatively few problems.
