The whole thing sucks big time.  It's no different then the current 
problems with Microsoft.  Make it proprietary, make it against the law 
to research the technology.  Viola, you've got a monopolistic control 
over a market.  No one can come up with a better technology without 
going to jail...

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
