Is there any support for these cards, or is anyone working on it? Has
anyone dealt with ViewCast?

A quite knowledgeable friend of mine says of these:

    We qualify the Osprey (www.viewcast.com)
series of capture cards. The Osprey 200 has SVideo,
composite and analog unbalanced stereo audio inputs.
It sells for about $100. Stepping up the line you get
SDI input, balanced audio, digital audio AES/EBU
input, inverse telecine, etc. The max is about $2000.
The quality of the captures is excellent, even with a
Osprey 200. If you'd capture from a DVD player, it
would be the bottleneck; not the card.

A company named Winnov makes a similar line
    of cards.

IMO, the way to go is quickly becoming uncompressed capture + software
encoding.

As I said before, I'd be willing to provide docs or code in support of any
efforts to develop APIs or drivers to support uncompressed capture.
