I was wondering if anyone has considered defining a common API for interfacing with audio and video Codec for linux?
Ideally the API should be general enough that any Multimedia player/grabber/encoder should be able to use any codec installed on the system without even having to know anything about the codec itself. If someone has, could you point me in the right direction. Otherwise, what should the API look like? Since I will have some time on my hand this summer I am seriously considering creating one.
