Well, you can't with the current drivers, you need to look at another 
hardware option if that is what you want.

    For using applications other than AVview you need to have TV playing in a 
    window before you can record anything. Otherwise, you will see "No data 
    available" messages in dmesg output and no data will be read from km-managed 
    /dev/videoX device.
