The zoran driver had byteswappings too (on YUV-4:2:2), which gave
exactly the same result - YUYV became UYVY and the picture, when
displayed as YUYV, was... green and purple! So I'd say it does...

This is easy to check (ugly - but hey, it's for testing ;) ):

    *words = ((*words >> 8) & 0xff) | ((*words & 0xff) << 8);
