Hi!
Im thinking of buying a tuner card and get started with V4L.
I've spent a some time searching the net trying to find out what to buy but the more
info i found the more confused i get.

Here's what i had in mind.
Im going to use the card with mythTv of Freevo to play mp3:s, avi:s, dvd:d etc. I
would also like be able to record video and timeshift.
Later i'm thinking about putting the card in an itx box for a quit standalone
solution. Especially if the ati hardware mpeg2 decoding gets supported in linux.

I've looked at the ASUS Tv Tuner (Don't know if it has a 'real' name.).
This card looks very promising with great image quality and remote control.
I've read around a bit and if i'm correct this card with the Connexant CX23880 chip is
not supported in linux today. However i've seen some evidence that development of this
driver is on it's way. Does anybody know if i can expect a driver anytime soon or
should i get another card.

I've looked at some other cards. Hauppage, Pinnacle and LifeView but none of them has
the Bt848/Bt878 chip wich i beleave has the best linux support with bttv. What's the
second best thing?

Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

Fredrik
