I had a look at the problem with mp1e and ALSA this weekend. The
problem is actually the change in latency when the audio thread starts
up (which seems to be longer with ALSA). This results in the
multiplexer dropping the first few video frames to get in sync with
audio. Unfortunately, this also drops the vide sequence header, making
the video sequence unplayable.
As a simple workaround, use the "-H x" where "x" is around 10, to repeat
the sequence header. The resulting streams seem to play quite well.
