about quickcam

Hi,

I am about to use a quickcam plugged to the parallel port
with the qcread, an application that outputs formats
in raw PPM and raw PGM

Does anyone knows a better application for parallel ports,linux,
and quickcams??? 

And does anyone knows any program that convert raw PPM or
raw PGM in jpg or any other graphic format
