I don't know about your specific card, but I also have a Bt878 based card
(a Hauppage WinTV) and have had similar experiences. As I recall, it didn't
work with RedHat 6.0 (kernel 2.2.something) or Mandrake 7.0 (kernel
2.2.14-15mdk) until I upgraded the I2C code. However, it works without any
trouble using the latest dev kernel (2.3.99-pre8). It uses the bttv driver,
which in my case, automatically loads on demand.
