In the mentioned kernels, the capturing mode of the bttv driver stops working when the load rises (e.g. when moving a window or starting a program). My old xawtv program then continuiously reports EBUSY errors in the ioctl VIDIOCMCAPTURE, even when I switch back to overlay mode. When I do nothing, it can work for hours and after killing the xawtv application and restarting it, everything is fine again. Using the pre9-1 bttv.o module with pre9-3 solves the problem for me. I have an ancient (1997) Miro PCTV card with bt848.
