So, that was my first starting point, now things work fine but had some trouble to get here... Okay, step by step: (a) the non-working stuff in my 2.4.0-test1 standard build was a problem of the default bttv driver. fixed with a patch from the bttv page, now running bttv 0.7.3 and capture works fine (actually, somewhere on this page had some text like "capture in the 2.4.0x kernel is broken by now" ). (b) running the kernel with the new bttv, tuner didn't work anymore. tried to do a lot of different configurations without any success, and finally got back to just copy the 'old' (2.4.0-test1) 'tuner.o' to the modules-dir instead of the bttv-0.7.3-tuner, and now things work fine again. Finally: Seems to me that the bttv tuner code (or at least the code inside this module concerning the Philips Pal_I tuner == type 1) is broken or not working right. I'm not at all a kernel-hacker or even a programmer so I think I won't be the person to fix this, but guess it wouldn't be bad if somebody out there at least would check this and see if it happens to him this way, too, or if it just is some other fault in my configuration. Anyhow, at least things work fine by now, so I guess it was a success after all... :))) Thanks a lot for your help...
