hi all
being new to this list, i hope that this question hasn't been asked
before too often (i very quickly browsed the archieves...)
i am using a asus-v6600-deluxe grafx-card (SvideoIN...) and did not
succeed in getting video under linux
my system:: PIII-733; Debian; kernel-2.2.17; XFree86-4.0.0;
nvidia-drivers 0.9-4
what i did::
installed kernel-module "videodev" : ok
installed kernel-module "i2c" : ok
installed kernel-module "bttv" : no error message, but no message at all
in my logs !
having tried a lot, i finally had 64 video devices;
started (pe.:) xawtv, which in turn starts v4l-conf;
messages (that seem important to me)
...
WARNING: Your X-Server has no DGA support.
...
can't open /dev/video: No such device
syslog saying "modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-81-0"
so i edited the /etc/modules.conf ::
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 bttv
the syslog error is gone now;
but still "/dev/video: No such device"
i believe the main problem is the lack of dga-support of the xserver
do i have to upgrade to the XFree86-4.0.1 ?
are there any options i have to set to get the dga-support ?
please help
