Hi,
we released our first version of a GPLed Linux driver for a hardware
MPEG2 encoder card.
The card is based on the Kfir chip developed by Visiontech
(http://www.visiontech-dml.com).
The Kfir chip supports video encoding in ISO/IEC 13818-2 (MPEG-2) and
ISO/IEC 11172-2 (MPEG-1), system Multiplexing in ISO/IEC 13818-1
(MPEG-2) and ISO/IEC 11172-1 (MPEG-1) in various stream types:
Video ES, Audio PES, Video PES, Program Stream, and Transport Streams
at variable and constant Bit rates.
It supports low bit rate applications and the following resolutions:
- Horizontal: 720, 640, 544, 480, 360, 320, 160
- Vertical: 112, 240, 480(NTSC), 144, 288, 576(PAL).
Video Input: Selectable 8/10 bits CCIR 656
Direct DVB/SPI output
Audio hardware encoding in MPEG Layer 1 and 2 is supported through an
ADSP chip. The PLX9054 PCI bridge allows busmastering DMA of the
encoded stream directly into main memory.
The card is also based on a design by Visiontech and is manufacturered by
BMK-Elektronik (http://www.bmk-electronics.de) in Germany.
You can find more details about the card and the driver itself at:
http://www.linuxtv.org/mpeg2/
There we also provide a form which allows you to get into contact with
BMK for ordering details. The price for single cards is about 330 Euro.
