I have seen the same problem on athlon (800mhz) board with VIA kx-133
chipset. What interesting is that, in my case, it is most likely unrelated
to bttv.
First I noticed that system crashes (freezes) if I run "gears" screensaver
for some time. 10-15 minutes was enough to cause rundom lock-ups. When I
tried running xawtv, the lock-up was pretty quick - third of the screen of
video. My theory is that hight speed PCI activity cause board or kernel or
both to crash. I tested with the same results on redhat 7.0 (2.0.x) and
7.1 beta (2.2.x). Same bttv worked fine on 200 mhz ppro.
