I would guess that the TDA9850 is alot like the TDA9851, which is an FM stereo
decoder (TV audio). It rips the audio from the TV signal and routes it to a codec.
It is usually programmed via an IIC bus. It is a simple device -- you program it
for stereo, mono, mute (and some other options). If you are not getting TV audio,
this is often the source of the problem.

Hm, I have an STB card with a 6300 and a 9850, and some experience with
these drivers... what's going wrong for you? What are the symptoms?
No promises of quick action, though, I have too much on my plate these
days...
