Need help, getting fuzzy/bad picture in xawtv

I have a leadtek winfast tv2000 xp, im running mandrake 9.1  When I run xawtv I get a bad picture, its fuzzy, static, lines down it.  I had heard about bttv not detecting my card correctly so I tried modprobing bttv to every NTSC tuner there is, 2 6 8 17 21 27 36 39, none of them produced any better results.  Do I need a new card (I know the card worked in my windoze box) or is it some stupid driver/software thing? This is assuming I should be seeing normal/decent quality picture.  This is my first time running xawtv but id assume its supposed to look like normal tv picture.  Also I have confirmed it is NOT the source. Any ideas?! Thanks
