As u said try either of card=39 or card=52. I am not sure about
this. But for u'r case tuner type=1 for Philips PAL_I, I suppose.
Verify with /usr/src/linux/Documentation/video4linux/bttv/CARDLIST.
Modprobing from "/etc/modules.conf" does not help me very much. What I
did is I used "/etc/rc.local" to modprobe driver modules. Append the
following 2 lines in "/etc/rc.local" and restart the system.
sbin/modprobe tuner type=5 debug=1 sbin/modprobe bttv card=37 audiomux=0.
(audiomux=0 - For Audio Output from tuner to sound card)
The above 2 lines is for my case where I am in India and using PixelView PlayTV Pro Tv Tuner card.
All the best. S.Suriya Mohan.

Hi,but I
Thanks for the tips. My distribution doesn't seem to include scantv,
used motv's scanning facility, with all of the settings I could thinkof.
Still no luck. I've also checked that the input is from the'television',
not composite. The ouput of xawtv -hwscan looks fine as far as I cantell.
As I see it, there are two problems that I don't know how to resolve:UK? I
1. How do I tell the card/software to use the PAL-I standard for the
read in other places on this list that I need to give tda9887 thepal=i
option (which I've done), but none of the software TV viewers (xawtv,Does
motv, kwintv) give me the option of setting the standard to PAL-I.
anyone know what the correct settings are for the UK? Are there otherwrong
options that I need to set in /etc/modules.conf?
2. It looks like I'm using the wrong tuner type, and maybe also the
card type. For the card, is a 'PCTV Studio Pro' different from a 'PCTV52
pro', and should I stick with type 39 (PCTV) as autodetected or type
(PCTV Studio Pro)? For the tuner, MT2032 is autodetected, but it looksfind
like that might be the wrong type (in dmesg: not a MT2032). How do I
out what tuner to use? Also, it looks like I need to choose thestandard
as well as the tuner for a number of them. Is this what I need to doto
get the card to work with PAL-I?
Thanks for the help,
Donald.
