I currently am using a first generation Hauppage bt878 card to do some TV captures through my VCR. I use the composite1 input, and I'm using streamer/mencoder to do my capture and encoding. (bttv card=10 tuner=0)
--dmesg snap-- bttv: driver version 0.7.104 loaded bttv: using 4 buffers with 2080k (8320k total) for capture bttv0: Bt878 (rev 2) at 00:0c.0, irq: 5, latency: 32, mmio: 0xdfdfe000 bttv0: detected: Hauppauge WinTV [card=10], PCI subsystem ID is 0070:13eb bttv0: using: BT878(Hauppauge (bt878)) [card=10,insmod option] bttv0: Hauppauge/Voodoo msp34xx: reset line init [5] bttv0: Hauppauge eeprom: model=38101, tuner=Philips FI1236 MK2 (2), radio=no bttv0: using tuner=2 --dmesg snap--
When capturing at any resolution, the first six pixels on each line are black. I have the same behavior in Windows using VDub with the open-source bt8x8 driver and Hauppage's VFW and WDM drivers. When I use VirtualDub, I use the little DLL-based tweaker that you can download for it that will adjust the device registers to let you "recenter" the image. This works well.
Are there any Linux resources to adjust the device registers on a bt878 to recenter the image? Do you guys/gals think my problem is stemming from the fact that I'm using my VCR as a tuner through the Composite input?
Thanks much, Phil
