It all has to do with how the server is configured. www.example.com 
would be a subdomain of example.com (like all those blogspot.com 
subdomains.)

(From where I am, I can't reach http://independent.co.uk/ - I get the 
following error: Couldn't resolve host 'independent.co.uk')
