Thanks for your .02 Nerissa. I don't know why it seems that use is okay except when it's commercial use, though. (Although I do understand the practicality of the argument: most copyright owners will choose not to waste their time going after some poor artist even though they have the legal right to do so.) But when John Stewart on the Daily Show, to use just one example, shows a news clip then comments on it, how is that allowed? The Comedy Network is commercial enterprise. Essentially they use copyrighted material in their show and the show makes money from the advertising they sell.
Are the rules different for a network or do they somehow pay to use the clips they use as material for their show? Anyone know? But on the other hand, content holders and the law are continaully moving in the direction of interpretation of "posting" on web means "broadcasting". And re-broadcasting copyrighted material without permission is not allowed. > > So, it really boils down to--- do you feel comfortable doing it and then making changes if one objects in later months or years down the road. > > My .02, > Nerissa > > > :::::::::::: > Nerissa Oden > > http://TheVideoQueen.com/blog.html > http://FreeVideoCoding.com > http://FreeMediaGuide.com > http://FreeVideoEditing.com > > Where do Women get answers to their video questions? > http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/videowomen/ > > --------------------------------- > Yahoo!
