As a recent convert to vlogs/video blogging, I wonder if some of the people are even aware of what "vlogs" are. Personally, I've worked in media production for years, and have tried to keep myself "up" on the latest internet trends -- and I've created plenty of web videos outside of the blog realm. Yet, up until a few weeks ago I had never heard the names Michael Verdi or Steve Garfield. In fact, it was a Google search on how to use RSS enclosures with video that took me to videobloggers.org, then to freevlog, then everywhere else. Even after only a few weeks, I've become somewhat insulated. I read this group and check out the videos, and I think "This stuff is EVERYWHERE, how could people NOT know about it?" I'm not defending this particular guy -- because honestly, it wouldn't take TOO much to stumble across the vlogs. I'm just saying that MOST people don't know about vlogs... so journalists may not (and are not) always "on the mark".
