It was said with a smile, not at all seriously. By the way, the answer to the question was "I try very hard not too!" which makes sense, because the singer also had a sense of humor, and this was as much a 'real interview' as you turning a video camera on your best friend and asking him why he's so stupid, in a joking manner common between friends.
