You might remember the plaintive email I sent to this list on Sunday asking why I couldn't find the audio-in port for Audacity on my Powerbook. I remembered using it in the past so was mystified by its absence.
The answer, I didn't realize until today, was because it didn't have one. So, I'm not completely crazy, just half-mad. See the comparison photos on my blog, if you're interested ... http://www.newmediamusings.com/blog/2005/12/mystery_of_the_.html Thanks to those who offered suggestions. Now, here's my final question on this: Given that this Powerbook G4 (2000 vintage) isn't showing any options for Line In audio, is it possible that I won't be able to transfer audio from an external device to it? (I'm running the latest version of Tiger.) If I buy a Griffin iMic, will that work (via the USB port), or won't I be able to record line-in audio to Audacity or GarageBand on an Onyx Powerbook G4 no matter what I do because the Sound card won't support it? See the bottom of this posting for an explanation of the "missing" settings on this Powerbook: http://www.newmediamusings.com/blog/2005/12/technical_meltd.html And, yes, I know, that's what I get for buying a 5-year-old machine ... :~) jd lasica http://www.newmediamusings.com ------------------------ Yahoo!
