Yea, I have never felt so royal. They paid for the transport and hotel and had an escort that took us around, etc. They are very serious about this and luckily the others involved in the awareness campaign were also very, very serious about spreading the word. They are extremely interested in the medium for major film makers and also unexperienced people. It really felt altruistic. I'm extremely impressed. Already the word is spreading around nicely.
Ryanne, thanks for sending the freevlog link, I didn't know it was in Spanish - I just forwarded it on, it's a great resource for this kind of thing.

Out of everything I have ever been involved with so far, this is probably the biggest, most exciting thing. I was a little nervous at first about the idea of pairing a "contest" with "videoblogging" but the main point to to bring awareness to the whole Spanish speaking world about what is going on with this movement we are all involved in. If you live in Mexico, and especially if you do not live in Mexico City, getting a camera and a laptop is not quite as easy for as many people. Even though we call these tools cheap, and have more leisure time to pursue hobbies, etc, its just not the same there so its more difficult to get people on board to start up the process. The winners of the contest will receive equipment like a laptop, a camera and free internet space. The judges include a famous Mexican film maker, famous bloggers and a couple of other very cool industry experts, all who have been fighting to raise awareness and help rise up the mexican community into this space. While we were there, through press conferences, MSM meetings, and radio and newspaper interviews, we did our best to explain the main point that this medium is very accessible and that now is a great time to jump in and make an impact. Pardon my overly idealistic intent, but I can't help but think videoblogging is exactly what people in less privileged regions of the world can use to rise up to more fair and equal ground. I wish I spoke spanish and could do more to help promote it, so if you are interested or find this important, please have a look at http:// intel.luzcamaraenter.com/ and pass on the info to anyone you know who might find an avenue to get the word out. The name, luz, camara, enter means, basically, lights, camera action. YAHOO! GROUPS LINKS YAHOO! GROUPS LINKS
