I was referring specifically to the Flash Player.  If one is going to
distribute a player, I would think it should be for the most current
version.  It is downwards compatible for the earlier versions of
Flash.  As for putting out videos, the image quality of the .swf file
in Flash 8 is far superior to the earlier versions.  For vlogging, I
would think that one would want Flash 8. The only reason for not using
Flash 8 would be that the general public has had a great deal of
difficulty upgrading to it.

I have painful experience that this is not the case! I think that
VlogMap visitors are much more computer literate than most people. I
have found a lot of reluctance by visitors to my Flash 8 vlogs to
upgrade from Flash 7. For someone who has just gotten used to email
and uses a browser primarily for Google, the Flash 8 upgrade process
on IE is so daunting it often is just not done.  I finally found a
workaround for it, but it was difficult.

I would put in a Flash 8 player and be done with it!
