jan is right. just send them off a note and ask!
if there is no notice on a work, it is assumed that it is under full copyright (at least, in canada that's true. not sure about the states), but some people just might not think of it or think much about copyright so you can't be sure.
asking is never a bad idea and it can also get you hits when your vid comes out!

I am working on a piece that is going to include a short mash up.
This is the first time I am attempting this, so I am pretty

I have noticed that some people have CC license included in the video
itself or as a banner on the site. In some other cases, I see
neither. I tried looking at the RSS feed but I don't see it there.
If I don't see anything, should I assume that it's
copyrighted and leave it be? I do not want to violate anyone's
preferred licensing. Is there someplace else I should be looking?
