I think you are leaving out  key elements of your car "analogy" . The
"parents"  of the HS students actually tell them where the car is and how to
steal it.  Also the car company did not leave the keys in the car,  someone
had to hot-wire it, in order to steal it. The company just was dumb enough
to think their car was safe near a school because it thought the parents and
teachers would make sure the kids did not steal cars.
VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues 
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition,bibliographic control, 
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and 
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective 
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication 
between libraries,educational institutions, and video producers and 
distributors.
