The reason she wants it is not for because she is interested in how it may have been received. She wants to provide contemporary viewers with some understanding of viewership at that time. I think this is part of a larger project on audience in the 1920s and 1930s, not only of film, but also of exhibits, exhibitions, etc. I think she is attempting to replicate that experience for some group of people, so just knowing how it was cut would be helpful, but not really fulfill her need.
Sorry. I don't know a whole lot about it, but this is what I got from our discussion. mb Michael Brewer Team Leader for Instructional Services University of Arizona Library brew...@u.library.arizona.edu<mailto:brew...@u.library.arizona.edu> From: videolib-boun...@lists.berkeley.edu [mailto:videolib-boun...@lists.berkeley.edu] On Behalf Of Jessica Rosner Sent: Monday, February 15, 2010 4:43 PM To: videolib@lists.berkeley.edu Subject: Re: [Videolib] Original US version of Metropolis Might I add, why in the world does he want it? You can find pretty detailed analyses of how METROPOLIS was cut in the US and elsewhere.
