"Perhaps videolib can set up a "matching" service for libraries who want
the blu-ray and can split a combo pack?"
Great idea in theory, but this would be a royal PITA for cataloging and
auditing for many folks.

I am afraid Sony Classics appears to be the main culprit in the

Dear CW,
Our Library would like to order a standard DVD version of this
movie. All I can find for sale is a Blu-Ray or Blu-Ray Combo
Pack. Does anyone know if Sony is planning to release a standard
DVD version? I checked their website, but they only list the
combo pack. I did not see any place on their website to contact
them.
Thank you for your help with this matter.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion
of issues relating to the selection, evaluation,
acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of
current and evolving video formats in libraries and related
institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of
communication between libraries,educational institutions, and
video producers and distributors.
