Cindy is exactly right. The CAN site was compromised - big time. We hired an outside contractor to help us clean it up because ALA staff would not do it (it is a big and tricky job with many steps).
Our contractor tells me that the site will be back up and running before Annual conference. Later this year, the OITP Copyright Education Subcommittee (previously known as the OITP Copyright Advisory Committee) - who dreamed up and created the site - are going to evaluate the site, and make some changes to make it better. I would welcome any ideas. VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
