Hi All- Long-time listener, first-time caller...
I wanted to reach out to the list regarding a non-commercial educational compilation DVD that my colleagues and I at the Orphan Film Project at NYU produced earlier this year. "Orphans In Space: Forgotten Films From the Final Frontier" is a 2-disc set, featuring a vast array of 15 'orphan' films and videos from a dozen terrestrial archives. It comes equipped with a full-color 40-page booklet of essays, preservation histories, and general nerdery about the film selections, as well as a pair of 3D glasses to boot. A new interview with John Lurie (whose long-thought-lost Super 8 film, MEN IN ORBIT, appears on the collection) by Andrea Callard is also included. You can check out J. Hoberman's brief write-up of the DVD, here: http://blogs.artinfo.com/moviejournal/2012/06/18/nyc-cine-relics/ We have a limited number of remaining DVD sets, and are looking to place them in circulating video collections at university libraries. Those interested in receiving a copy can contact me, via email, off-list. Many thanks, Walter Forsberg, Research Fellow NYU-Libraries 212-998-2534 forsb...@nyu.edu
VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
