Subject: [pubprgms] Call for Reviewers

Dear Librarian-

The ALA Public Programs Office is currently seeking public, academic, and
community college librarians to serve as peer reviewers for the Bridging
Cultures Bookshelf on Muslim
Journeys<http://www.programminglibrarian.org/muslimjourneys> project. Only
those working for libraries that *are not* applying to receive the Muslim
Journeys Bookshelf are eligible to serve.

To volunteer as a Bookshelf reviewer, please send an email to
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> with your name, title, and library
name as soon as possible. If you are not currently employed with a library,
please send a copy of your résumé. Those selected will be asked to review a
maximum of 50 applications during the review term, October 26 through November
15. Each application will take approximately 5-10 minutes to review via a
password protected Web site. All reviews must be submitted by November 15.

Reviewers will be selected in the coming weeks, and all volunteers will be
notified of their reviewer status no later than October 22. Review instructions
and access to the reviewer website will be sent via email on October 26.

The Bridging Cultures Bookshelf is a project of the National Endowment for the
Humanities, conducted in cooperation with the ALA Public Programs Office.
Because this project will impact thousands of library users across the country,
it is very important that we involve librarians in the application evaluation
process! Thank you, in advance, for your consideration.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
