Hi, Jeff

Here's our subject area on activism films
http://www.bullfrogfilms.com/subjects/activism.html. It's fairly obvious which
ones are non-US based. There are two series called RAINMAKERS about individual
young activists around the world.

For individual titles I would recommend:

FORCE OF NATURE (Canada) http://bullfrogfilms.com/catalog/fon.html (Great
new film)
THE MAN WE CALLED JUAN CARLOS (Guatemala)
http://bullfrogfilms.com/catalog/man.html
WHO'S COUNTING? SEX, LIES AND GLOBAL ECONOMICS (New Zealand)
http://bullfrogfilms.com/catalog/whoo.html A classic
WATER ON THE TABLE (Canada) http://bullfrogfilms.com/catalog/wott.html
A TRIBE OF HIS OWN (India) http://bullfrogfilms.com/catalog/toho.html

And though it's not about a single activist, YOU'VE BEEN TRUMPED, about local
farmers and the filmmaker fighting The Donald's proposed golf course/hotel
complex in Aberdeen, Scotland is not to be missed.

Best,
    John

Subject: [Videolib] docu on activist working in a non-US context

Hello video liberators. An instructor requested "Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry" but
that won't be out until december, so he then requested any alternatives, "a
rich documentary that focuses on an activist working in a non-US context." Any
ideas? It's driving me crazy that I cannot think of anything. I know there's
plenty.

Thanks,

Jeff

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
