I am not too concerned about removal of VHS tapes that are in a streaming
collection for two reasons:

1) A great many of our streaming titles were purchased in perpetuity,
through Alexander Street Press, Ambrose Digital, or Media Education
Foundation
2) The subscription collection from Films Media Group provides for the
opportunity to purchase discontinued titles while FMG still has
distribution rights. When titles are discontinued we examine use data to
determine if use merits purchase.

If content does disappear from a collection we will purchase DVD if
necessary. Realizing of course that some things will no longer be
available.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
