We've been building a blu-ray collection since the summer last year. We usually order the blu-ray version of most newer films and not the DVD. Sometimes we find that the DVD/blu-ray combo packs are a comparable price to the single Blu-ray discs.
I don't know if blu-ray will ever replace DVD. My personal opinion is that streaming media will probably replace both those formats.
