Chris! Technically the name of the database is the USC Shoah Foundation Visual History Archive. Because it is a USC product, we naturally get it...free. USC has a large Holocaust Studies program and the database is used extensively. Obviously we are most pleased with it. Formerly it was not always the most user-friendly database but most of the problems seem to have been rectified.
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Library there in DC has the database, and you might wish to contact them to see how it is working out for them. I see that a few universities have access but having just heard what a subscription involves, cost and technical requirements, I wonder how it is being managed at other libraries. -- Chris Lewis American University Library 202.885.3257
VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
