Hello,

Lately we have been transferring VHS tapes which we own to streaming files if
they are no longer available in DVD or other usable formats pursuant to
copyright regulations. I was wondering if anyone knew about streaming theater
productions that have been perfumed at our College. Is it legal to copy
copyrighted material for archival purposes? Additionally, these are productions
of texts, many of which are in the public domain, and the productions
themselves as copyrighted material should belong to the College as there were
performed here.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Kylie

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
