Greetings everyone,

In light of Jonathan Miller's query to the listserv and the many very
interesting responses, I wanted to put in a shameless plug for a paper session
I and my colleagues will be participating in this Thursday at Charleston. While
it is largely about streaming media collection development policies we will
also touch upon issues of when to purchase physical v digital and question what
streaming media means in relation to traditional library values. Here's a link
to our full abstract: http://sched.co/4BaB .

Hope some of you can make it!
Best,
-lisa H.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
