We don't really have a policy per se. We don't have a specific Blu-Ray collection, but we do purchase the combo packs - Disney, Criterion, when released. Or, if a film receives great reviews, but is only released on Blu-Ray, we'll also get that. For a while, one of our branch selectors was getting Blu-Ray of top releases, but she wasn't aware that we really didn't collect them. Part of the whole issue comes down to budget. We just don't have it. I hope this helps.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
