I checked two of these and assume the others are the same. They are
Japanese Anime films that never got US distribution, my GUESS and it is
only a guess based on experience is that the rights holders probably wanted
more money than an American distributor thought they worth, I say this only
because there is healthy market for Anime so it seems unlikely that there
were no offers at all. There is no legal DVD released in the US ( though
there are legal copies you can guy from I think the UK at least in one
case. It is not hard to track down the rights holders since these are
recent films, LITTLE FOREST is Shochiku which is one the oldest Japanese
film companies again I did not look for the others but would be pretty easy
through Variety reviews, festival reviews or even sometimes IMDB. As a
practical matter I don't think it will help because there is basically zero
chance they would agree to streaming rights for a film they have not even
licensing for any US distribution. This situation comes up a lot and there
is nothing much you can do beyond suggesting the instructor find a
substitute title or get an imported DVD and show it in class, put on
reserve etc.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
