Server Support
Support of the server infrastructure which deliver the following services:
o Domain authentication
o Electronic Mail
o File and Print
o DHCP
o Other applications as required


Desktop Support
Support of the desktop infrastructure including PCs, laptops, printers, scanners and 
other LAN attached equipment, the operating systems and applications installed on them

Electronic Mail
Support of the Electronic Mail service including maintenance of user account 
information hosted in the local Exchange Server. 

End User Support
Resolution of end user problems, installation of user hardware and software, education 
and coaching in use of applications and hardware.

Wide Area Network (WAN)
Operational management of the hardware and associated software comprising the network 
linking sites in the cluster and with the rest of the BlueScope Steel network.  This 
includes:
* communication lines
* routers
* compression and packet shaping devices 

Local Area Network (LAN)
Operational management of the hardware and software associated with the network 
linking computing devices on a site in the cluster.  This includes:
* switches
* hubs
* cabling
* patch panels

Voice Systems
Operational support of the PABX, mobile and other telephony services.

Security
Operational management of Information Security practices for all hardware, software 
within the scope of the role (as described above) Including:
* Physical security of computer room
* Back up and recovery of server systems
* Disaster Recovery plans for server systems
* Access control to server systems

Colleague Support
Working harmoniously and effectively by managing relationships with peers, 
subordinates and management

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Understanding  LAN Servers 
Knowledge of infrastructure platforms

Understanding of Electronic Mail systems in particular Microsoft Exchange
Good systems skills

Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office 
Understanding of WAN Technology
Technical documentation skills (training manuals, process documentation)
Data analysis and specification skills
Excellent time management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills - ability to liaise & communicate with 
internal customers
Good teaching, coaching skills suitable for a broad range of users from management to 
shop floor
Familiarity with ODBC and SQL
