The idea that the 6th course wasn't added until quite late because the guitar had a > re-entrant tuning doesn't fit in with his theories. All next sources imply bourdons with so many words Joan Carles Amat (c.1596, and later reprints from 1626, 1629, 1639, 1640, etc.) Girolamo Montesardo (1606) Benedetto Sanseverino (1620, 1622) Giovanni Paolo Foscarini (1629, c.1630 - - c.1640) Nocolao Doizi de Velasco (1640) Stefano Pesori (1648) Giulio Banfi (1653) Gaspar Sanz (1674, and later) Lucas Ruiz de Ribayaz (1677) Francisco Guerau (1694) Antonio Stradivari So, it is unworldly to say that 'the guitar had a re-entrant tuning.' It is remarkable to read that Monica interprets what I have said as if I try to prove that the guitar _always_ had octave stringing on both the 4th and 5th courses. The trouble with all this is that so many things are said without even taking the time to properly read other people's postings. Perhaps you should consider to also 'storm' off the list, Monica. It remains possible read the archives every now and then, and it cannot not even be seen as impolite if you don't answer unwelcome messages, since you're simply not there...
