Is this with an auto downloading map tiles?
This has historically been a source of problems...

These issues don't seem to apply to the Linux version.

Some work was done to address reliability problems - but this should have made 
the Windows version better too - not worse :(
A side effect for the redrawing rework perhaps is on the clearing of the track 
display text as well on Windows.

It ships with many supporting dlls, however I don't think there are any changes 
(in version but the file dates have changed). Which points to the Viking change.

I personally don't use Windows for my personal projects, so from my limited 
usage under Windows - it seemed to work - basically open a gpx, view a map.

At least 1.2.1 is working for you.
