I'll always known that drawing lots of waypoint labels (e.g. over several
hundred) has been slow.
However I've just noticed (from trail and error) that the setting 'Fake BG
Color Transluceny' seems to make the drawing very slow.

I think setting this default to Off may be better - since it's faster. When
it's on, it only has a subtle effect so not a great loss.
NB I have nearly completed work to allow setting of 'Default Layer' values,
although I don't know whether to try to put this into the imminent 1.4 release.
So you can set the values you want.
