You have yet another option, which is build vim from svn sources. If you with to give it a try, the script to build vim from sources is at http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=1473 "vim7_install.sh : {download + build + install} latest vim7 from svn sources in 1 command." It has an advantage that you choose yourself with which GUI to build it. (you will not be at the mercy of packager's fixed choices (correct me if I'm wrong, but the problem you describe here must be a packager's mistake, no ?)) Yakov
