Hi Paul,
You are doing the same as this:
:set highlight <- shows contents of 'highlight' option
:set cursorline <- activates 'cursorline' option
... but in the one command:
:set highlight cursorline <- shows contents of 'highlight' option and
activate 'cursorline' option
Just use 'set cursorline' and leave out the 'highlight' part.
