I had a problem with colors using Vim (7.1.000) on Windows 98 and LifeLines genealogy software <http://lifelines.sourceforge.net>. LifeLines uses an external editor with Gedcom files. After Vim exit, screen keeps Gedcom syntax colours until a DOS cls command. I'm using now gvim for UTF-8 encoding.
