Wow, what an obscure feature. There's more to this bug: I can reproduce it only when 'number' is set. Otherwise the # flag doesn't show line numbers and there is no misalignment. But the # flag _should_ show the line numbers regardless of 'number'. This is ostensibly the same logic as with the :p :# :l commands.
